Who we are

Ancient wisdom. Remembered, not reimagined.

Our Philosophy

Season House exists to restore Seasonal Literacy.

Seasonal Literacy is the practice of learning to read the patterns of nature, history, story and human life as one interconnected language. It is an invitation to recover ways of seeing that once helped us orient ourselves within the living world—and may still do so today.

We believe story is more than entertainment. It is one of humanity's oldest ways of carrying wisdom across generations. Stories preserve memory, shape culture, reveal values, and help us make meaning of the seasons we inhabit—whether those seasons belong to the earth, a civilisation, or a human life.

To become seasonally literate is not simply to observe the turning of the year. It is to recognise the rhythms that repeat across nature, history, community and the soul, and to discover that they are speaking a common language.

In learning to read that language again, we begin recovering the stories that reconnect us with nature, deepen our relationship with soul, and strengthen our connection with one another.

Why Season House?

Our ancestors looked to the sky, the landscape and the stories of their people to understand where they stood in the great unfolding of life. They recognised that seasons shaped more than the weather—they shaped community, ceremony, imagination and identity.

Over centuries, many of those stories became obscured. Traditions endured, but their origins were often forgotten. Ancient festivals found new expressions. Symbols accumulated new meanings. Rituals survived while the stories that once animated them faded quietly into the background.

Season House began with a simple question:

Why do so many of our most cherished traditions feel disconnected from the stories that first gave them life?

That question became a lifelong practice of historical inquiry, narrative exploration and seasonal observation.

Our work is not about recreating the past or escaping into nostalgia. It is about entering into conversation with the wisdom that has shaped human communities across time, and asking what it might still have to teach us.

About the Founder

Season House was founded by Tamara Ó hÓGÁIN, a behavioural science specialist, writer and cantadora whose work brings together psychology, history, mythology and narrative.

Her path began in clinical psychotherapy, where she witnessed the profound role story plays in shaping identity, healing and human resilience. It expanded through years of historical research, creative writing, seasonal practice and contemplative exploration, leading her to recognise that many of our oldest stories continue to offer wisdom for contemporary life.

Rather than asking people what to believe, Tamara invites them to become attentive readers of story, season and symbol—approaching inherited traditions with curiosity, imagination and thoughtful historical inquiry.

Season House reflects her conviction that reverence need not depend on certainty, and that wisdom often emerges where history, imagination and lived experience meet.

It exists for those who sense that beneath the noise of modern life there remains an older conversation waiting to be heard.

Welcome.
